The Florida Department of Transportation approved this PD&E study on November 21, 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On November 21, 2024<\/strong> the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in coordination with Hillsborough County, pursuant to 23 U.S.C. \u00a7327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26, 2022 and executed by the FHWA and FDOT, was granted Location and Design Concept Acceptance for the Gibsonton Drive Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study from Fern Hill Drive to US 301.<\/p>\n

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Seven, in collaboration with Hillsborough County, conducted a Project Development & Environment (PD&E) study along Gibsonton Drive from Fern Hill Drive to US 301 in Hillsborough County.<\/p>\n

The PD&E study objectives included: determine proposed typical sections and develop preliminary conceptual design plans for proposed improvements, while minimizing impacts to the environment; consider agency and public comments; and ensure project compliance with all applicable federal and state laws.<\/p>\n

A Type 2 Categorical Exclusion was prepared as part of this study. The proposed improvements include construction of stormwater management facilities (SMF) and floodplain compensation (FPC) sites. The PD&E study satisfies all applicable requirements, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), to qualify for federal-aid funding of subsequent development phases (design, right-of-way acquisition, and construction).<\/p>\n
