Project Overview

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 will hold a kickoff meeting on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm to present information to and receive public input from interested persons regarding the proposed improvements to SR 60/Courtney Campbell Causeway.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Seven, is conducting a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study to analyze potential capacity improvements and hardening against coastal storms on State Road (SR) 60/ Courtney Campbell Causeway from County Road (CR) 611/ N. McMullen Booth Road in Pinellas County to West of SR 589/ Veterans Expressway in Hillsborough County for approximately 9.5 miles . The study begins in the City of Clearwater and ends in the City of Tampa.

Project Schedule

The SR 60/Courtney Campbell Causeway PD&E study began in June 2025 The project activities include collecting information, developing roadway improvement alternatives and evaluating the potential environmental and social effects of the “no-build” and “build” alternatives. A public kickoff meeting is scheduled for the September 4, 2025. The study is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2027.
