The I-175 Action Plan will build upon the findings of the 2022 Downtown St. Petersburg Mobility Study, which identified opportunities to enhance multimodal connectivity, safety, and accessibility in and around downtown St. Petersburg. This new study along I-175 from I-275 to 4th St S in St. Petersburg, a distance of approximately 1.1 miles, focuses on evaluating the form and function of I-175. Community and business engagement will play a central role in shaping the plan to ensure it reflects local needs and priorities. It will explore options to enhance pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and vehicular mobility while considering strategies for sustainable urban development and safe travel for all users.
The study is being conducted in collaboration with the City of St. Petersburg, Forward Pinellas, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and local community organizations. The study will assess the corridor’s current functionality, explore ways to optimize its use, and analyze how transportation needs can be balanced with community aspirations and land-use planning. Key outcomes of the study will be presented in a Corridor Action Plan, which will document a range of findings and recommendations. These will include options for short-, mid-, and long-term strategies that address mobility, safety and connectivity, while also identifying potential barriers to implementing preferred concepts. The analysis will provide insights into opportunities for incremental improvements and long-term ideas.
The I-175 Action Plan will serve as a framework for evaluating how this corridor can serve the community while supporting the region’s transportation and development goals.
Study Purpose
