Elected Officials and Agencies Project Kick-off Meeting #1 (January 14, 2021)

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Seven held an Elected Officials and Agencies Project Kick-off Meeting to provide an overview of the SR 580 Corridor from Alternate US 19/SR 595/Broadway to Tampa Road being conducted in Pinellas County, Florida.

The meeting was held in-person and online via GoTo Webinar on January 14, 2021.

Project Advisory Group (PAG) Meeting #2 (July 15, 2021)

The Project Advisory Group (PAG) Meeting for the SR 580 Corridor Planning and Concept Development Study was held in-person at Bayside Community Church, 3380 SR 580, Safety Harbor, FL 34695.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Seven held a PAG Meeting to provide an overview of the SR 580 Corridor Study from Alt. US 19/SR 595/Broadway to Tampa Road being conducted in Pinellas County, Florida.

This project coordinated with Forward Pinellas Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the Cities of Dunedin, Clearwater, Safety Harbor, Oldsmar and unincorporated portions of Pinellas County to develop potential solutions that establish safer multimodal environment utilizing a context-sensitive approach. This study will involve a community-based evaluation to determine how best to meet the needs of current and future users, and to establish a long-term plan to guide evolution of the corridor that appropriately correlates the balance between land use and transportation planning.

The result of the SR 580 Corridor Planning Study will include the development of a Corridor Development Plan, which will identify a range of multi-modal solutions to address the mobility needs within a context that reflects the long-term vision for the study corridor. The Corridor Development Plan will include short, mid and long-term implementation strategies that guide future development within the corridor, as well as specific improvements that can potentially be advanced in the near term though local agency participation and/or by FDOT.

At the PAG Meeting, the study team were provided interactive roll plots for comments and input, an overview of the study process and project schedule. The project team worked cooperatively with attendees to identify community issues, goals and preferences in the project study area.

Project Advisory Group (PAG) Meeting #3 (April 27, 2022)

The Project Advisory Group (PAG) Meeting #3 for the SR 580 Corridor Planning and Concept Development Study was held in-person at Clearwater Hall Rentals, 1828 Main Street, Dunedin, FL 34698.

Time: 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Seven held a third PAG Meeting to provide an update of the SR 580 Corridor Study from Alt. US 19/SR 595/Broadway to Tampa Road being conducted in Pinellas County, Florida. This PAG meeting is part of the alternatives evaluation phase and is the alternatives brainstorming portion of the corridor study. At the last meeting, on July 15, 2021, the PAG assisted in identifying deficiencies along the corridor and setting the purpose and need, goals and objectives of the study. This meeting was used to share the alternatives that the team has developed to address existing deficiencies and meet the purpose and need of the study. The team received feedback from the PAG members regarding the alternative options presented.

The format of the meeting included a brief presentation to review the deficiencies previously presented and proposed alternative options being considered as part of this Corridor planning study.


There will also be a number of opportunities to participate in person, including:

  • Alternatives Public Workshop – In compliance with the Florida Department of Transportation Project Development and Environment Manual, 23 CFR 771 and Section 339.155, F.S. an Alternatives Public Workshop will be held. The Alternatives Public Workshop will be held at an appropriate facility convenient to the study area and ADA accessible.
  • Stakeholder Coordination Meetings – Technical input will be provided, coordination and support for the Department to hold or participate in various meetings, which are anticipated.
  • Project Advisory Group Meetings – Participants are expected to include agency staff and stakeholders, in addition to FDOT units to be engaged in the review of products and at key decision points in the process.

Project Schedule

The SR 580 Corridor Planning and Concept Development Study problem was defined and began in May 2020 and will wrap up in the Summer of 2024.
